Access locks-up when loading application

I've got a 2003 mdb file that I'm installing on computers throughout my
office. This has worked properly on all but 2 machines (one running 2003 XP
Pro, the other running 2007 on Vista). Whenever I try to run the application
(from their local hard drive), Access just locks-up, and I eventually have to
use the Task Manager to close the file. I've made sure that the application
has not been blocked (occassionally it shows up in the disabled items list),
and have recomiled and digitally signed the original file.

I'm fresh out of ideas.

OK,

This is strange. I made a copy of the program (this is a front end
updater), removed the digital signature, and removed the start form.

Access was able to open the file and did not lock up. When I enabled
macros, and ran the startup form, it ran correctly, copied the secondary
application (which does have a digital signature, and which would also lock
up Access), and kicked off the main application.

Then, I closed Access and went back to the original front end updater
(signed, startup form enabled, ...); it ran perfectly.

Go figure!
