Access denied when updating

Chuck

On one of the LAN's that we service, I have noticed that
some (not all...) workstations have access denied to
Windows Update. Even if I am logged on as Admin LOCALLY
(not through the domain) I receive the error message. All
IE settings were set to default levels, certificates are
set to Prompt and I don't see any Local Policies that
would affect this. Any suggestion would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,
Chuck

Check with this as well:

- Open the Registry Editor

- Look for either of those two keys:

1:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Window
sUpdate] "DisableWindowsUpdateAccess"=dword:00000001

or

2:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explor
er] "NoWindowsUpdate"=dword:00000001

If any of those exist, be sure the values are set to 0 (=allow).

Make sure too that the user that wants to access WU has full rights to the
local WU Files (the WU Folder, etc)

Thanks and Regards,

Fabio
