Access Denied when trying to Join Domain

C

Carolyn

I have a Windows XP Pro computer that got disconnected
from the Windows 2003 Server Domain. When I try to join
the domain, I Get "Access Denied" on the domain admin's
account name and password.

I've tried joining a workgroup, then joining the domain,
and ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /registerdns, but
haven't had any luck.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Carolyn,

Are you using the same account that originally joined this machine to the
domain? Active Directory will only let the account that originally joined
the machine to join it to the domain again. You can have the Network
Administrator reset the machine account so that it will let another user
account join the machine to the domain.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response, I have reset the computer
account on the domain, and I have used the domain
administrator account when I attempt to join to the
domain. I think this is the same account used when it was
originally joined to the domain, but it still
says "Access Denied."

Hi Carolyn,

Can you check and make sure the user account you are using has permissions
for creating machine accounts in the domain?
