access denied to my documents

I recently had a crash and am attempting to recover
data. I have win xp home. I could not log on to my
computer at all, so I had to do a repair of the windows
installation. In the process, first, the my documents
folders displayed as empty, but when I did a search for a
file, I could find it, and it would open with the
specified program. Luckily, I had a saved copy of my
documents on another drive, so I copied them to the
folder on my c: drive. There still remains a folder of
my documents under my name which I cannot access.
Everytime I try to open a file, I get the message access
is denied. There are still a few files in that folder
which I need, but cannot open. I am the computer
administrator, but it still would not let me take over
the files. The files I need to open are listed as
another user, under my name and not as computer
adminstrator. Any ideas how I can open these files?

Take ownership of the files to regain access to them.
