Access DB Conversion

I have an Access 97 .mdb file that works perfectly with an application.
I converted the Access 97 file to the latest Access version.
Why - because Access will not allow me to work on the DB within Access
unless I convert it. This is stupid!
I just used tools and did a conversion.
This went OK.
Then I tried to use the converted .mdb file with the same application and I
get a popup window that asked for a password.
What password? I tried my Window Logon password - it failed.
No password was ever involved before.

What is the "appliction" that is orking ith the Access database? In
what way do they work togethe?

What do you mean, Access would not allow you to work on the DB unless
you converted it? What was the message that caused you to think this?

Does the popup window ask for a username and passord, or just a
password? What is the text in the title bar at the top of the message?

We can not guess these things - you have to /tell/ us, before we can
help.

It is a VB6 Application
It only asks for a password.
When I load the Access97 .mdb file into Access 2003 it says I cannot make
changes to it because it is an earlier versior.
If I want to edit it, I have to convert it using the Tools / Convert.
