Access database not opening

Hello,

One of my users has a very strange problem. He works with a database which
was working just fine with Access XP. Now we migrated to Office 2003 and
every time he tries to open the DB, he gets an error that says: "database
corrupted". However if he tries to open the DB from a CD (his backup), it
works thoug there are some security messages and it also says that the DB is
read-only. We tried to repair the DB but to no avail. What bugs me it's that
the DB work fine from the CD but it fails when I copied it to the HD. ¿Any
ideas?

I can tell you why your backup gives the message 'read only'
The Access files are become read only when they are copied to a CD, because
they cant be anything else. You can't edit data on the CD through your
Access database as it just exists as an image. I dont even think it can be
done with a CDRW.
When you copy the database back to the HD. Right mouse click on it in
Windows Explorer and in the 'general' tab at the bottom of the window untick
the 'Read - only' tick box.
This may even solve your other problem

You can run run access against a *.mdb file on CDRW if you have Drag-n-Drop
enabled CD burning service runiing, such as Direct CD.
