ACCESS AND MOUSEWHEEL SCROLL PROBLEMS

I am using ACCESS 97 on Windows XP Pro and all is working well except for
using the mouse scroll wheel in a form that includes a subform.

My main form contains over 1,000 records, and each one contains a subform
with the patient's attendance dates and payments etc. Both the main form and
the subform have scroll bars.

I recently acquired a laptop (using Win XP PRo) and on this machine, I
cannot scroll in the subform using the wheel. I also cannot scroll down the
main form i.e. scroll down the screen(the main form is a little longer than
the screen). Instead, the wheel scrolls form record to record. I have
pressed almost every key on the keyboard and almost every combination of
keys to see if I can unlock something which might be preventing the
scrolling but nothing changes.

It works fine in a query (datasheet view) and in the help screen, and it
also works fine in Word 97 and Excel 97.

I had this problem once before on my regular computer and I corrected it my
removing the batteries from the keyboard then reinserting them - I cannot do
this with this keyboard. I am hoping there is a simple solution because it's
driving me crazy having to scroll using the scroll bars all the time.

Thank You,

Orlando

Thank you for your reply.

I have tried to open the relevant zip file from the site you suggested but I
get a message that I "do not have a viewer to open this object." (I am using
IE 5) I am asked to go to Microsoft Active X Gallery to download a viewer
but I have no idea what I am looking for.

I have some moderate knowledge of computers but I am a bit lost here. Please
pardon my ignorance but your advice would be appreciated.

Thanks again.
