Hi Todd,
OK - here's the deal. Microsoft Access never had a .dat extension, so I'm
assuming that the .dat file is a delimited file of some sort, or an .mdb
file with a renamed extension.
When it comes to .mdb files that are used by legacy Access applications, the
best plan is to create a new database in your newer Access, import all of
the objects, except tables, then link the tables to the older file.

I have an old access 95 file, the program that uses it was brought back an
updated, I was told I could convert my old database to use it. But if I
convert it to 2000 or 2002 it won't work. The files used by the program
still have the .dat extension but new access files don't have that
extension. Does anyone know how I can convert this file but still keep the
..dat extension?
