Access 2k Runtime Files

Are there any issues with installing the Access Runtime
files on a PC that already has Access 2000 installed. I
have used the packaging wizard and will be rolling out a
Access app in my company to a few users, and some users
have Access 2k, others do not. Should I create two
seperate Installs for this one with out the Runtime and
one with, or can I just install the runtime files on
machines with Access. Thanks for the input.

I don't think you need to worry about it. Make one installation package
WITH the Runtime files. When the installation program runs on a specific
machine it will only install the Access 2000 Runtime files on machines that
don't already have Access 2000 (or higher??) installed.

The Runtime installation is a separate part of the package installation that
only runs if the package determines that it is necessary. If a user already
has the retail version installed the "Install Runtime files" section will be
skipped and the runtime files WILL NOT be installed (but the rest of your
app will).

Therefore: if you have assumed that all users will be running your app in a
limited functionality Runtime environment, think again. If a user already
has the retail version of Access and they start your app, they will have
full (not Runtime) functionality unless you have appropriately locked down
your app (toolbars, visible windows, special keys, etc.)before distribution.

Hope this helps,
