Access 2007 Error 3033

Access 2007 was installed on my PC about 2 weeks ago. I created a secure
database in Access 2000 several months ago, was updated to 2003 approximately
1 week prior to the 2007 upgrade. I opened and modified the database when
using 2003 but now I can't open the database. I get the error 3033 "You do
not have the permission to open the secure database. Please have your system
administrator (which is me) give you the necessary permissions.

Do you have any suggestions what I need to do or how I can open this database?

If you keep it in the mdb format, you can still open it in 2007. Create a
desktop shortcut to launch the secure mdb. Its target would look like:
"path to 2007 msaccess.exe" "path to mdb" /wrkgrp "path to secure mdw"

I don't quite understand this. I can use the .mdb extension to "open as"
that database type but I still receive the same error.

Did you try creating the desktop shortcut and using it?
"path to 2007 msaccess.exe" "path to mdb" /wrkgrp "path to secure mdw"

Hi Joan,
Can I delete the .mdw file and remove all the security? Since 2007
functions much differently than all earlier versions, it makes sense to start
there. The desktop shortcut didn't allow me to open this database.

It's not as simple as deleting the mdw file to remove the security. If the
desktop shortcut didn't work, post what you have in the target of that
shortcut. It is likely that something is wrong there.

In any case you'll need to open it in order to remove the security, so get
the shortcut working.
