Access 2003

I have just applied an upgrade to our Novell 6 network and now only 1 person
at a time can open a database. Any ideas on what might have changed? I have
got all users on the same server-based workgroup, but I have been told this
does not apply in a Novell environment.

A similar situation (different network) happened to me. After three days of
trouble-shooting (and disgruntled 'customers'), the network folks admitted
(sort of) that they might have modified permissions.

This is just one possibility: make sure all your users have read/write
permissions on the shares where the Access .mdb files live -- this is
necessary because Access has to be able to create an .ldb file "on behalf"
of the user. ... and to modify it when others try to use the mdb file.

Hi,

All users of the database need basically full permissions to the folder
holding the database. That's because users need to create, edit, read, and
delete a .ldb file in a multi-user environment.

Might not be a problem with Novell 6; however, record locking issues were a
big problem with 5 and earlier. Before the actual errors would show, there
would be performance problems.
