Access 2003 with FP 2003 for e-commerce

Hi All:

My goal is to create a small online shop using FP 2003 and (maybe) Access
2003 for database with other 3rd party hosting services.

The following are assumed of database usage:

(1) Product information management: Including its name, price, image, and so
on. The total product will not exceed 500 items in the near future.
(2) User/customer information: Either for simple user/password information
or for more detailed customer information.
(3) Other information for 3rd party services: Deliver information to vendors
or payment/logistics service providers.

So, would you kindly tell me, based on the above usage, do I really need
some kind of database?

If so, what is the "easiest" one to learn and work the best with FP 2003?

I've ruled out Oracle already since I cannot afford it and it's too
complicated.

I am thinking about either MS Access, MySQL, or MS SQL server.

Again, many many thanks in advance.

There are tons of e-commerce solution that work well, especially with a few
items and which do what you are looking for.
They range in cost from free to under $100.00 to whatever the market will
bear and cost is not a good measure of the value.

Why re-invent the wheel, or even something with a constant diameter that is
not a circle.

Hi:

I agree with you 100%.

The reasons for my questions is to help me find the hosting services who
provides the intended solutions/platforms that meets my needs, and also to
be able to work with them on that solutions.

Thanks!!!

I've been using these guys for a few years with very low volume accounts.

They let you know when they are going to do things, when they have problems
and they have always responded to my email in a very short time

Unless you want the mundane task of maintaining etc. use a service that
provides a shell that can be modified , if necessary.
We have had great success with suppliersolutions
You can check our site to get a sense of how it works.
www.suppliersolutions.com/qwa
This site is using xml punchout protocol, multi tiered pricing, order
notification, confirmation and download. Integration to our backend was a
breeze.
