Access 2003 - Iviewing a picture in a form

P

Phil

I have been using a database including photos which
display in my form. This is a bound, embedded object
(jpeg picture)... Having now upgraded to Access 2003 when
I insert a picture - it's name only displays in the box
and I cannot seem to make the picture show (except when I
double click on the name.
The existing records with pictures all display. However,
if I double click on an existing picture then it
says "The OLE server isn't registered"...
p.s. I have also re-installed my XP pro from scratch
recently.

Any ideas... this is frustrating.

Not overly familar with your problem but it sounds like the either the form object or table has a setting regarding displaying the record - show icon or file

The most likely cause is that no suitable OLE Server application is available for the file type. What
OLE server was used previously ? (look at the image field in table view to see).

If it is MS Photo Editor, this application is no longer included in Office 2003. It may be possible to
install it from an earlier version of office. However, note that there can be significant drawbacks with
this approach to storing images, particularly with jpeg, that can include an overhead of up to 200 *times*
the original file size. More info is available here:

Thanks for the help... you are right... It is MS Photo
Editor... and I did a complete re-install with XP and
Office 2003, so the Photo Editor is not a registered
program.

The new pictures I have embedded show as Paint Shop Pro.

I will read the link for further ideas..
