access 2000 will not import excel tables

I have a user on windows 2000 that is unable to import tables into access 2000.
I have reinstalled the applicaton and it appears that it is importing only
nothing happens. Let me also tell you that this user also has access 97 and
excel 97 on his pc and they work fine. But to import from 97 excel or 2000
excel shows no response. Any suggestions?

What does "no response" mean?

Does the wizard not start? If so, try reregistering ACCWIZ.DLL using
regsvr32.exe

Do you not get an option for .XLS files in the list of extensions? If so,
look for the file Msexcl40.dll on the hard drive (it should be in the System
folder) and use regsvr32.exe to reregister it.
