Access 2000 on XP peer to peer. HELP!

G

Gordstray

I am using a VB application that uses Access 2000 DB on a
network. The DBase resides on an XP home machine, and the
VB application on each workstation. All works fine on
multiple 98SE machines. I recently purchased two other XP
home machines, mapped a network drive to the DB, and I
get the following error when I try to connect:The
Microsoft jet database cannot open the file "B:\****.mdb"
It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you
need permission to view its data. 3051 in GetPath When I
try to open the DB using Access itself across the
network, I get the following error message: could not
lock file. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Not sure if this is your problem, but: all users of the database must have
read, write, ?execute and delete permission to the folder where the database
is. This is because every user must be able to create, update, or delete,
the locking (LDB) file that Jet uses for multi-user processing; and that
file is unconditionally placed in the same folder as the database.

HTH,
TC
