Access 2.0 Tables - Windows 2000 Server`

OK. I know this sounds ridiculous, but we have an
application that has its' database tables still in 2.0.
The front-end is running on more recent versions of Access
(2000, XP, etc) but the back-end has never been converted.
We are getting a new server soon that will be running on
Windows 2000 Server, and I need to know if the 2.0
database will still be ok. I do plan to convert it later
this year, but hoping I can survive the server upgrade
first. Any ideas? Thanks-
Louise

In coming up with a plan to convert these tables into a
higher version of Access, are there any issues you can
forewarn me about? I was thinking that I would create a
new database in Access 2000, and then import the tables
into it. Is that the best way to do it? Or should I create
new tables with the same structure and then move the data
into them? thanks for your help!

I would first make a copy (or several) of the file, then convert it. You may
need to use Access 97 as an intermediary conversion tool, or contact PSS at
Microsoft who can supply you with a conversion filter. You can also recreate
the tables in Access 2000 format and import the data, but that's a lot more
trouble and takes a lot longer to do.

The important thing, however, is just to make sure you have a good backup
file before you start.
