Hi,

Do I need the Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) service enable to
be able to share files & printers and to synchonize shared files over a local
network (LAN)?

- Thanks.

Doesn't look like it - looks like it's used for clustered servers, not
clients. Why doest thou ask? :)

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your reply.

I asked simply because I try to close as many services as possible that can
potentially affect the security of the machines on the network.

I already terminate the Messenger and DCOM services, but about the MSDTC
service, I was not shure of the consequences.

So I prefer to educate myself before doing the changes, and then, receives
tons of complaints that this and that does not work anymore.

Thanks again.
