If your computer is failry New, within the last two years or so, you should
be able to go to microsoft.com and then go to support and download a copy
of the DirectX 9.0c update. You may also try putting the Sims 2 CD back in
the drive and then reboot to the install screen, you should have an option to
install the latest (at time of Sims Release) Direct X. It should be on the
CD.

Hi,

your game obviously needs a "DirectX 9.0c" compatible graphic card or you
need to install DirectX 9.0x which you can download from the MS web site.

Cheers,

It always helps to quote the error message exactly. However, it sounds
like you don't have a video card that meets the game's system
requirements. Go to the game's website (or look at documentation that
came with the game) to see what video cards are supported.

To Test/Inventory your multimedia capabilities, run a XP utility called
DXDiag.Exe. It will test/analyze your system and display parameters
about multimedia.

Click Start, Run (Type) DXDiag [Enter]

Pardon Me Malke for Thread jumping - I get a lot of calls from folks
who buy games and then can't run them. I have them run the util and
send me the output for review.
