A7V8X-X

My grandma's PC has PC-3000 RAM and an Athlon XP 2800+ CPU. She has an Asus
A7V8X-X motherboard. Her computer had frequent crashes and restarts. I've
fixed it by dropping the FSB at 300MHz (150). I read up in the manual and
discovered that only PC-2700 RAM (333MHz) will work with a CPU with a 333Mhz
FSB. Without replacing the memory, are there any alternatives? I upped the
multiplier to 14x150 to come up with 2.1GHz. XP reports it as 1.88GHz. No
matter how much I bring up the multiplier, it stays at 1.88GHz. Any ideas?
Thanks.

obviously the multiplier is locked...so the only flexibility you have for
speed is the FSB...what the issue could be is faulty RAM...you could get
Memtest86 and run it..if there is any errors the memory is faulty and that
could be causing the issue.
