A7V8X-X m/b's and ATI Video cards

ok after two days of frustration i finally figured out my problem! here's
the scoop:

the A7V8X-X motherboard has issues with ATI based cards. (I'm using an Asus
Radeon 9600SE) My problem was constant rebooting in Windows XP Pro. When I
found an old PCI video card and installed it today, the system ran stable
for hours on end. (Note: the computer rebooted during install of Window XP
Pro many times - a simple half hour install took over 4 hours! Even then,
XP acted weird. I formatted the drive and installed a fresh copy of XP once
i got the system running stable with the PCI card.)

I found the bios for this board on Asus' support webpage:

http://www.asus.com/support/support.aspx

in the "Hot Download" section. Flashed the bios using EZ Flash, and the
system has run stable for over an hour now.

I am posting this in hopes someone else with the same problem can get the
information quicker by reading this post - I was suprised that no one had
posted a similar problem with this board and video card. i hope this helps
someone else!

The new bios is the 1009 bios. My board came with 1007 bios.

Thanks to all out there who responded to my posts! This is a helpful group
we have in here!

John,
I don't know if it would help you but since you're running XP you may
want to jump to the Catalyst 4.4 that came out last week. I read
somewhere that there were some dual monitor issues resolved!
