A7V266-E & XP2400+

Because Soc 939, BTX, DDRII, PCI Ex etc are about to hit us at a similar
time, I'm going to stick with my current m/b until things have settled a
bit. The XP2400+ appears to be the fastest CPU this board will take 'cos
the 266FSB version of the XP2600+ appeared to be somewhat short lived
here in the UK & expensive.

Are people running the XP2400+ successfully & is it still unlocked (&
O/c'able on this m/b)? I'm running my current Crucial 2x256MB DDR 2100
CAS2.5 unbuffered RAM at 137MHz @2.5V with an XP1800+.

Was running my 2400+ on my old a7v26ee without o/c'ing. Only problems I had
was with >512MB PC2100 DDR RAM.

Thanks. I see there are 2 versions of the XP2400+, so need to do some
further research. My rationale is that going from an XP1800+ to an
XP2400+ isn't worth it *unless* I can o/c it more successfully than the
locked XP1800+ will allow with this m/b.

Mine runs fine at stock speed.

Will upgrade to a 64bit oe 128 bit cpu when software comes out.

Yes, I have experience with the same motherboard as well. It is not the amount of RAM. It
is the number of memory slots you filled. I don't think the system is stable if all three
memory slots are filled. You are probably using two slots for your 512MB. If you want to
increase the amount of memory, you need to replace one or both of the sticks. Do not attempt
to use the third slot. I have 512MB+256MB, and no problems whatsoever. As soon as I put my
other 256MB in the third slot, the system will run for a while. Eventually, it will freeze.

I think slowing down the memory bus to 200MHz (as opposed to 266MHz) may solve the problem,
but I haven't tried that.
