A7V-333 -- how to disable RAID?

J

Jens Lenge

Hi folks,

I hope someone can help me.

Is there a way to completely disable the onboard RAID chip on the Asus
A7V-333 mainboard (maybe via BIOS settings or jumpers)?

I have no disks attached to the RAID system and want to skip the long delay
everytime the PC boots while the RAID system is looking for disks.

Thanks in advance,
Jens

Not the same board as you (mine is an A7N8X de luxe), but mine is disabled
by a jumper on the mobo. Have you checked your manual?

There's a jumper directly under the promise controller chip, called
Raid_EN, move it to the right!
Better yet put the hard drive on it and run 2 cd-roms(cd and/or dvd
-rom's/burners as standalone masters), load the raid driver first!
Damn slow to boot tho, the gigabyte solution with the highpoint
controller was far superior, diasble raid bios and quick boot!
Asus/Promise should get their act together.

Thank you very much!
I do have this RAID_EN jumper.
However, it is not at all mentioned in my manual.(

Again, thanks!

Just looked again - nothing about this jumper on page 21 (or any other
page). Actually, the jumper is not even depicted on the mainboard layout
scheme in the manual. But it is definitely there on my hardware, and even
better - it works ). Maybe my German manual is just somewhat abridged?

You seem to handle the English language well so I would recommend you
download the English version and do a bit of a comparison between the two
versions.

Yes, I think I should do that.
Would be interesting to see if there are major differences.
