It may work, but changing motherboard without reinstalling Windows is
generally asking for trouble.

Depends what chipset you are coming from. But unless it's basically he
same, I wouldn't recommend it.

If you do it and it seems to work, but you have stability problems then
before bothering to post your problems, please reinstall your OS.

There is no requirement to format the drive, you can either install the OS
to a different partition or directory (depending on the type of your install
disc).

No problem. The main thing is to uninstall all of your old m/board's
specific drivers and change the IDE drivers to the MS standard ones
before you install the A7N8X.

No need to reformat the drive but I do highly recommned at least a repair
install of XP so it will load the proper HAL. Unlike 98/98SE/ME where one
could simply revert to Microsoft default drivers and delete a simple
registry entry before switching the board out, XP tends to interact a little
differently with the hardware and just changing the motherboard out without
at least the repair install could and more likely IS asking for trouble

I have had no problems whatsoever after following the procedure that I
laid out on two Win XP pro partitions that I have on this PC. I got
the advice from this NG where others had had success too.
