A7N8X-E Scsi unable to boot

I have an Adaptec 39320 R scsi card which I have put into this mobo.
It will not boot beyond the DMI Pool boot and just hangs.
I have disabled the Sata_EN1 to reduce memory usage. I am mystified because
this board worked fine
in my previous mobo which was a A7N8X deluxe!!
Is there something simple I have overlooked!
The bios is a bit more comprehensive than in the old board, but have tried
all combinations.
HELP please!!

Hi Paul
The bios on my Asus board was 1008 which worked of course.
I am a bit nervous about flashing this one, which is 1012.
I was hoping that there would be a configuration setting that needs
changing.
This bios has a boot for a scsi or raid card, so I wonder if there had
been problems before.
Any other ideas?
Jim

Perhaps an earlier BIOS version will help ? Something previous to
the two pulled BIOS, 1009 and 1010, would be the thing to try.
1009 shipped with some boards, so if your board has 1009 in it,
remember to backup the BIOS rom image with the flash utility before
doing anything else. I just got the board, and it shipped with 1011
in it.

Now, the big question, is where to find the BIOS.

I tried a hack to find the release info for 1011. Take this link and
put the name of the BIOS file at the end of the link:

http://www.asus.com.tw/support/down...id=10&l3_id=23&m_id=5&key_f_name=C18E1011.zip

"1. Fix ATI 9700 failed to boot when aperture size is changed.
2. Modify Max password number from 8 to 7."

"1. Support AMD Sempron CPU"

You can also find 1006, 1007, 1008, 1011, and 1012 here. 1009 and
1010 were pulled. 1009 shipped in some boards, but cannot be the same
1009 as was on the download site, as it seems to work.

nforcershq is a great source of info for the various BIOS. Start here:
http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/search.php

In the "Search for Keywords" box, enter A7N8X-E and a BIOS number
like 1011. Click "Search for all terms" and do the search. You may be
able to find some comments about what works or doesn't on the
various releases that way.

It is possible the A7N8X-E BIOS started life as a A7N8X Deluxe rev 2.0
BIOS and that is the reason the release number starts at 1006. Take a
look at your A7N8X Deluxe board and see if you can figure out what
BIOS it was using. Perhaps a version as close as possible to it
will work better.

Just a guess,
Paul
