A7N8X Dlx -- Adjusting the voltage

C

Chestum

my core voltage shows to be 1.68 my processor is Athlon Barton 2600 and
my system properties shows to be running at 1.14 GHz. I tried to change the
voltage once before and my comp would not boot, what can i safely change my
voltage setting to and still boot. I am trying to make it run at least what
the processor says it runs at which i believe is 1.8 GHz.
MB - A7N8X Dlx
512 mb ram
ati radeon 32mb agp video
antec 430 true power ps

Thanks for any input, im just a little chicken to try without advice this
time :)

Where is that shown?
my processor is Athlon Barton 2600
and my system properties shows to be running at 1.14 GHz.

What is your FSB and multiplier set to?
I tried to
change the voltage once before and my comp would not boot,

What did you change it to?
what can i
safely change my voltage setting to and still boot.

That would depend on your system.
I am trying to make it run at least what the
processor says it runs at which i believe is 1.8 GHz.

So why change the vcore?

What are the default setttings for your CPU? 166MHz FSB and you can leave
the multiplier alone (leave it default)

I'm not sure what the problem is, since you haven't given us much to go on.

You shouldn't need to adjust Vcore to get proper Freq. I would guess
your XP 2600+ is a 333 FSB type. What FSB and multiplier are set in
BIOS. At a reading of 1.14Ghz, I'd bet the multiplier is at 11.5, which
is OK, but the FSB is at the default of 100 MHz instead of 166 MHz as
it should be! Things should be fine with a Vcore of 1.65v.

Thats correct, i just entered another post listing all of the settings in my
bios so you all can c.

So if i go back in and change the FSB to 166 instead of 100 it should do
the trick and "should" boot ok or atleast let me back into the bios?

OMG! changed the setting to 166 and it nearly cut my boot time in 1/2!!
and now says running at 1.91 :)
thanks
