But is it the CORRECT Ram for that board!!!
I just put together a system (sorry it is not a Asus, but it was basically a
free motherboard <g>) and I installed a Kingston 333MHz PC2700 256 MB Ram
(Backwards compatible to 266MHz and PC2100) and the system does not boot
with it. I had to purchase a Kingston 266MHz PC2100 256 MB for the computer
to boot. Conclusion: YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE CORRECT RAM!!!

BTW Is the board out of the case....like on a anti-static mat for testing
purposes?

I think your confused between the memory being 184 pin and PC XXXX. The
PC number must be the same . Someone else can explain why the brands
have to be the same. Their no way to go cheap or mix and match brand
names. Good luck . Later.

Well I know that these Kingston Ram modules were only different PC XXXX
numbers and MHz, one being a 2700 and the other being a 2100. The 2700 did
not work but the 2100 did and I was only installing one stick at a time and
making sure that it was fully seated. I was just offering another
possibility why his computer is not showing video. :)
Mine is alive and kicking now.
thanks,
dave

lucky you. This mishap is allowing me to spend more time on my linux
box. Bummer my new printer does not have drivers for linux. Don't have
access to printer for one more week. HP 2410 - 3 in one . I would
totally switch over to linux if it was for this problem.
