A Virus Question

William Gower

My sister-in-law has a virus on her computer, when she goes into IE the
computer pops up a window and says that lsass.exe is the problem and the
computer will shut down in 60 seconds.

I ran Norton and it didn't find anthing. I also ran the removal tool from
Symantec for the Sasser worm. I also checked her task manager and nothing
out of the ordinary is running. I checked for MSBlast and Sasser. Nothing.
Any suggestions?

Option 1:
Backup all data that needs to be kept.
Format the computer

Option 2:
Update norton with it's laest virus patter file and run
the scan after.
Also search for bots with spybot search and destroy
software available at www.downlaod.com

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Do the checks in Safe mode. The virus is masking itself while it is active.
