A Sound Card Question

I have XP Home SP1. I have an ASUS motherboard. I'm going to start
using some voice-recognition software. In preparation, I want to know
what kind of a sound card I have, whether it's built into the mobo or
separate.

1. How do I find out what my sound card specs are?

2. Any recommendations for a cheap microphone to get me started on
the voice recognition?

Note: I do not need to hear good sound; I just need the computere to
hear me.

DirectX Diagnostic (type dxdiag in the Run pop-up)

If the sound card jacks are grouped together with all of the other ports,
you have integrated sound.. follow instruction in the other reply for
specs..

Any computer microphone will do.. buy according to your budget.. headsets
are a good option as the mic is always at a fixed distance from the sound
source..
