A program to transfer programs?

Erich

I have a friend who has an important invoicing program that he uses for his
business. He recently got a new computer and set it all up, but he can't
find his CD for the invoicing program. He wanted to transfer the program
from his old computer to his new one. Now I know you can't just transfer the
program files directory for that program and expect it to work (sometimes it
does, but 99% of the time it doesn't) HOWEVER, I do know there are programs
out there that CAN successfully transfer a program INCLUDING all necessary
..dll's and registry entries. I'VE USED IT BEFORE but it was so long ago I
don't remember who made it. I THINK it was from the makers of Cleansweep,
but I can't find any info on it anywhere. Does anybody know what I'm talking
about or have any other suggestions? THANKS

You can't do it with XP. Have him contact the manufacturer for an updated
version for Win XP. Even if he had the cd, it might not work if it's a really
old program. Another alternative is searching Ebay or clearance lots from
online software sellers.

Do Detto products transfer software programs?
No, Detto products do not move software programs from one computer to
another. Software programs must be installed from their original software
CDs to ensure that they function properly. An improperly installed program
can cause problems with the computer that it is running on. Therefore, our
products transfer the settings and data associated with the program, but not
the program itself.

Actually I do not need to transfer "settings", I need to transfer the actual
PROGRAM. He lost the CD. Thanks.

You could try transferring the settings and also copying
the software.

It might be a good idea to contact the manufacturer for
replacement media and/or an upgrade anyway though.

I hestitate to ever say something can't be done, but without a Setup cd, it
can't be done. What is the name of the program?
