A popup error upon computer start up

I am running windows XP, SP2 on my computer. Beginning this morning when I
turned the computer on and upon the desktop coming up, a Message stating
"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into the drive". This
has never happened before today. I even did a system restore, to an earlier
date, but to no avail. It appears that this is being caused by not having a
disk in a USB digital concepts card reader that I use to insert pictures into
my computer. I have used this card reader for over a year now and this has
never happened. Why would it suddenly be looking for a disk in the reader and
giving me this popup error. I checked the Microsoft Website and it said that
if the card reader drive letter got changed to "C" that this could happen. I
checked and the card reader's drive is E which it has always been. I have not
made any intentional changes in the computer. I checked the startup folder
under programs and it is not in there. Where else could it be located that it
would asking for a disk in this removable disk before completely starting up?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I want to let you all know that I have solved my problem. Hopefully this will
help some other poor soul that may fall into the same trap as I did. I will
try to explain this to the best of my ability. OK, here goes. I have Windown
XP with SP2. I own an Olympus 770 Ultra Zoom camera. I use the Olympus xD
picture cards. I can take movies with this camera in the mpeg4 (30 FPS)
format if I have the camera set to a high compression like tiff. The camera
mauual said that I could take MPEG which is at 15 frames per second as
opposed to mpeg4 which is 30 FPS if I set the camera to a lower compression.
I have been taking movies in the mpeg4 format (higher compression) and I did
not have any problems with my computer giving me this startup error.
Yesterday I switched my camera to a lower compression to take the mpeg
movies. This time as soon as I placed the picture card into the card reader I
was taken to the Apple's Quick Time website. It had to have been some
embedded software in the camera or the card to have taken me directly to the
above site. Without me knowing it, a program was installed on my computer by
the name of Quick Time. I check in the programs list and sure enough Apple"s
Quick Time was listed. Fortunately it had an uninstall listed and I
uninstalled the program. I really think this is terrible for Apple to install
a program on a persons computer surreptitiously. The data that caused this
had to be either implanted in the camera or the card for this to have
happened. I have seen this error message listed in several places from
googling. I am not saying that this is the cause in every case but I would
be certainly checking out any removable disk...especially card readers if you
are using it to take movies with. Would appreicate any imput. Thanks.

I suspected the problem would be that the Recent Documents listing was
looking for files you had recently opened on that drive.. or a similar
glitch.

Thanks for your reply Joe. Uninstalling Apple's Quick Time took care of the
problem. It does seems strange that would happen. Fortunately I associated
the problem I was having today with the above website popping up yesterday. I
had never installed Quick Time but after checking under programs it was
there. Shame on Apple...
