A newbie:Sending FAX using MS OutlookXP and WinFax Pro

M

Mota

Hello;
I installed WinFax pro 10.0 on WindowsXP and want to send one of my Access
XP reports thru Microsoft OutlookXP.Based on Microsoft documentations
(provided for using Microsoft Fax),I opened the report in design view and in
its page setup, set its printer driver to WinFax Pro.But outlook cant
recognize the "[Fax: ###-#######]" as a valid address in its To: box and so
I can not send Fax .I feel there is some settings needed in Outlook to
linking outlook and WinFax,that im not aware of.In the other hand,There is
no "Services" in the Tools menu of Outlook XP.
Can anyone plz help me to do this?
I appreciate ur help and thank you in advance.

WinFax Pro is a third party application. You should seek support from them.
The last I heard it does not work reliably on Windows XP and Outlook 2002.
The instructions for Windows XP Fax would not apply to Win Fax Pro.

Does it work well on Windows ME and MS Outlook 2002?
So,for my conditions described, what is more reliable and what u recommend to
send Access reports through fax?
Thank you for ur attention.

Windows ME has no fax software at all with which Outlook could integrate.
You've confused me. You said you were using Windows XP in your first post.

Well I still think you should check with Symantec for any updates before you
abandon WinFax Pro. Windows XP Fax integrates well with Outlook 2002:

I'm getting very similar results as Mota, using Access 2K2 and WinXP
Fax Console 1.0.

Q299016: "HOW TO: Fax from Microsoft
Access by Using the SendObject Command in Access 2002" describes a
method very similar to that which Mota seems to be using.

Like Mota suggests, the problem seems to be integration between
Outlook and the Fax console - I can get as far as a new Outlook
message with the receiving fax no (eg "61 2 1234 5678") in the "TO:"
field. If I leave the number blank in my module, I get a new message
with a blank "TO:" field...
It seems that because I've set the printer for the report to be the
Fax driver, Access knows to send the report through Outlook - but
that's where it all stops...
Of course, if you send the Outlook message you get an instant NDA for
an invalid address.

I also found Q287765: "Services That Do Not Coexist with Outlook",
which suggests that either Outlook or MS Fax must be disabled when
both are installed - this is certainly not the case in my situation,
as Outlook is fully functional and I can send Faxes directly from the
console.

Hope this adds some useful info to the mix...

Programmatic faxing questions need to be posted to one of the Outlook or
Windows Fax programming groups. I doubt the traffic here will be able to
help.

Yes,Thats right like what u said.Im using DoCmd.SendObject and having the
same problem as you.In the other hand, the last topic in ur post can not be a
solution for our problem, since Outlook responds well to our request(as u
described too).I know the outlook 2000 matches with WinFax Pro,however
Microsoft suggests Microsoft Fax and it is JUST FOR OL 2000 at the link
below:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;299016
But im searching for (Now hopelessly !!) a way to use OL 2002.
In the other hand, unlike tha next post of Russ Valentine,it makes no
difference to use code or doing it manually. The problem is integration of
Fax console and OL 2002.Can anyone send a fax manually (and not
programmatically) under this conditions?
Anyway,thank you for your attention.
THX.
