Compaq EVO running Windows XP
Floppy disk controller reported an error that is not
recognized by the floppy disk driver. What does that
mean? The many disks I tried are ok..tried reloading the
floppy driver same error. Is this a hardware problem or
driver problem?

Oh yes, they've tried several disks and the disks work OK
in a different non-XP computer. I should have mentioned
that. The A:drive used to work OK with XP. It's not my
machine. Belongs to my sister and her family. They may
have downloaded a patch or something that's caused the
sudden problem. Thanks for your response, Gary.

If the floppy drive worked in this machine before but now it is not
reading any drives, it may have died. Try another floppy drive.

Most welcome, Gary. And yes, many XP users have A drive/floppy issues.
Some have even gone as far as replacing the floppy drive from an non XP
running system, because all floppies work from placing them into a an older
system then back into XP. Some odd.
