A big troble with Windows Update

Jesus Aguilera

Please, I'm a newbee and my english is not very well. My problem was with a
Windows update for the Service Pack 4. The Windows 2000 server hadn't been
updated before, and when It was Updating, first it downloaded the files and
1 hour later was still installing in the same point. It continued by an
hour. My boss then took action and cancelled the installation. When we tried
to start the update again it failed with something like "There is another
installation not finished, finish the previous installation to begin a new
one".

I don't know what to do to restablish as it was previously or updated.

Excuse my poor english and thanks in advance

Jesús

Hi

During the setup process of hotfixes and service packs,
especially those that require rebooting the server, some
files remain on your server hard drive until you reboot
your machine. In some cases, if further critical updates
or hotfixes are applied, the first thing they check is the
existence of pending reboot requests due to previous
updates. I suggest that you reboot your server before
restarting the SP4 setup process.
