_private Folder

This folder seems to have duplicate folder names. It appears that it keeps
track of all folders, even when you change the folder name. Is this true?
My question is this... can't I delete the folders that are no longer in use
(in this _private folder)?
Thanks

FrontPage "should" delete them by itself when they are no longer on both the local and server copies
of your web, or when you recalculate hyperlinks.

The names are there for a reason.

Right, however, I have recalculated the links already.
The extra folders exist on local and remote.

My question is this, can I delete from the local then publish... allowing it
to automatically delete on the server?

If you open these folders using windows explorer do they contain anything?? If so leave them alone.

If they are empty and a re "duplicate names" of folders or subwebs you created and then deleted from
your root web, they are "probably" safe to delete. However, they are probably zero byte folders and
are basically harmless.

Yes they show up with Windows Explorer.. when it is set to view hidden
files/folders.
I guess this is how FP keeps track of folders when you change the folder
names.

This is only in the _private folder. I realize that this may only keep
track of cnt's..., that is, how many times a person has browsed to that
folder.

Yes it is definitely small space that it takes up, I'm just picky when it
comes to cleaning/streamlining things (which can get you into trouble
sometimes... which is why I'm trying to learn about it).
