_msdcs missing

Hi All,

Just thought I would add my 2 cents after resolving an issue with one
of our clients.

I was investigating a host of problems and discovered that the
_msdcs.SERVER.local forward lookup zone had been deleted, as was
evident in the Event Log by a host of DNS failure messages.

I tried all the suggestions I could find in Deja to no avail.

Finally, I simply used the Configure a DNS Server wizard in the DNS
manager to recreate this zone .... worked like a charm!

HTH.

Good job, Craig.

One thing I did notice, is that you stated a single label name for the
domain name. Is this true or did you just mistype it when you posted? Not
sure if you're aware of it, but single label AD domain names are
problematic.

service?
