_derived folder empty

Peter

I have FP2003. My website looks fine before I upload it. My ISP does not
support FP extensions etc. Publishing on line FP sets up a web folder
_derived, which is not present in the local web site. This is empty.
Viewing the on-line site via IE, shows various things missing. Properties
of the missing elements refer to gif and other files which should be in
_derived. I have tried Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks, but no improvement.
What to do next? Advice gratefully received.

a host with fp extensions. the _derived folder (if my memory serves) is

Some hosts impose a limit on the length of filenames. Filenames in the
_derived folder may be exceeding this limit, thus preventing the files being
uploaded.
When creating a theme button in _derived FP adds 19 characters to the theme
and page names. (example page.htm_cmp_themename010_hbtn_a.gif ). If your
host limits file names to 32 characters, this leaves only 13 characters to
share between theme and page names, including the pagename extension.
Edit your theme and save as, using a very short name (one or two
characters). Apply this "new" theme to your pages. Rename your pages to a
maximum name length of 7 characters, ( abcdefg.htm ), with extn of .htm.
