9600 pro questions

i have recently ordered a powercolor 9600 pro. However after i ordered it i
have discovered that it is a version of the card that has a 400mhz core and
400mhz memory, not 600mhz.

I believe it is something to do with the type of memory.

Now at the moment i just have a geforce 3 ti 200 so hopefully i should see a
big improvement anyway. But how much slower is it than the 600mhz version
and will it be quicker than a standard 9600 anyway because of the core
speed. Can i overclock the memory???

I am fairly certain that i will be happy with my purchase as i really didn't
want to spend any more than about £90 ish anyway and the xt cards and the
"full" pro versions of the card all seem at least 20 - 30 pounds more
expensive.

any constructive comments are very welcome

Thanks

with the 2.5% surcharge for credit cards (didn't think anywere still did
this, must be a scottish thing still ;-))) plus the expensive delivery it
would make mine almost £110. A good £20 more than i have spent and indeed
wanted/ could afford to spend.

The company takes Switch (no surcharge) and the card is now #95.00. Amazing
price for a great card.

I think you are confusing the RAMDAC speed with the RAM clock speed? The
RAMDAC may be 400, but the memory clock will be 600 (300 DDR x2). If
not, it's not a 9600Pro!

i am not confusing the ramdac and the memory speed

powercolor do two verions of the 9600 pro.
Both have the 400mhz core but one comes with slower memory ie 400mhz instead
of 600mhz
see here
http://www.worldofcomputers.uk.com/graphics.htm

the 9600 pro ez has 400mhz memory

all i am wondering is what is the difference in performance between the two

I'd be more inclined to believe it if the brand name was something other
than "generic" so the information could be confirmed at the manufacturer's
site.
