95/98 log on problem. Weird...

Hi everyone,

Here is what I have:

I have a small LAN with four DC's. To keep things simple I'll call the DC's
DC1- DC4 and explain what they do...

DC1 is a global catalog, DNS, emulates BDC, Wins server, and DHCP server.
DC2 is a global catalog and DNS server. DC3 is a global catalog, and DHCP
server. And DC4 is a global catalog server.

Here is the problem:

I am having the weirdest problem. Some of my win95/98 users can't log on if
they got their dhcp address from DC1. If they have their address from DC2
everything is fine.

There is no obvious event log entries, and I ran DCDIAG.EXE and I get no
errors what so ever. What can cause a 95/98 computer not to log in? I am
totally stumped...

It is not usual to have two DHCP servers in one network. Ensure that
the scopes don't overlap, and that netmask, and DNS server supplied by
*both* DHCP servers is exactly the same. Compare ipconfig /all outputs
from clients that receive IPs from the two servers. I would shut down
one of the DHCP servers.

Cheers,
