I am trying to capture from my 8 mm camcorder into my computer using Roxio 8,
but I get only a roaring in the audio and no picture in the preview frame on
my computer. I am using a composit hook up. Does any one have any ideas? I
have no manual for the roxio.

Roxio software is really garbage....To capture audio/video download WM
encoder 9 series, get the utilities also,WMCAP utility works great for simply
viewing video, the encoder in capture also will + save it &/or can convert
it,etc..
Remove roxio...

Thank you for emailing me. I have a dazzle media creator 85 that I am using
the capture device from and the Roxio was downloaded for me by a friend,
because I could never get the dazzle media program to capture. I had used
the roxio previously and was able to capture a couple of my 8 mm recordings
and then burn to a DVD and a CD, but I had to take my computer back to
factory settings and he downloaded the roxio program for me again, so not
sure what may be the problem. I do have windows media, so I googled WM
encoder 9 and it took me to a site that had this:

Windows Media Encoder is a powerful tool for content producers who want to
capture audio and video content using the many innovations in Windows Media,
including high-quality multichannel sound, high-definition video quality, and
support for mixed-mode voice and music content.

Do you think I may need to get another capture device instead of the dazzle?
I have tested my cords to my camcorder and there is not a wire problem, but I
was thinking maybe there is a problem with the dazzle device, I have looked
at the drivers and it does not show a problem as far as being there.

I do not have a fire wire port I am hooking up to usb port.
