64 bit athlon and windows xp pro

Hi!
I was wondering if a 64 bit athlon can run the 32 bit version of Winows XP
pro without complications, and if so, could i also run 16 bit applications
with the 32 bit version on the 64 bit hardware due to the compatibility
features in the 32 bit version of windows xp?

Little bit longer answer:
As long as 32-bit Windows is installed, everything is compatible. Drivers,
16-bit programs, etc. The hardware is not the limitation blocking 16-bit
programs in Windows x64 - Windows itself is.
