403 forbidden error

Carl

I have a wierd situation that I hope someone can help me
with. I wanted to go out to a web site that I've logged
into before, but now when I do I get a 403 forbidden error
before I can even log in. The strange thing is the way it
happens.

When I type in the URL either in Netscape or IE ver 6 as
long as I stay up in the menus area in otherwords not on
the page it self the page will show up. As soon as I moved
the mouse onto the page, it changes to the 403 forbidden.
If I hit the back button and stay up in that area, the page
will reappear.

I've tried deleting temp internet files, checking security
settings. What's wierd is that this is the only sight it
happens to.

Any suggestions????

Thanks,
Carl

Hi Carl :)

Try changing the name of your Hosts file and see if that helps. Open your
Windows folder in Explorer and look for the hosts file, without any
extension. If you have one that is hosts.sam, that is NOT it, it's just
hosts. Rename it hosts_OLD.

Try the site again and see if it works.

If so, go back to the hosts_OLD, right click on it and click Open with.
When the window opens, scroll down the list to Notepad. Once it opens in
Notepad, scroll down the list and find line with that site and delete place
a # in front of the line. Any line with the # in front of it will be
ignored. Then click the save button and close. Then rename it back to just
hosts with no extension.

If the above does not work, post back here with the details of what happened
and any errors if any. Please be sure to provide the exact wording of any
messages you may get.

Hope this helps.

Jan :)
