40+gb microsoft intellipoint folder clones user directory?

I am running windows vista and I came across the folder C:\\program
files\microsoft intellipoint, which was over 40gbs. I opened the folder to
find a clone of my own user folder, complete with all my documents and music.
deleting a music file in this intellipoint folder proceeded to delete the
file from my user folder. Is this normal? What exactly is going on?

I only have 16 MB used in that folder on my computer.
It sounds like you have a junction point in your folder that points to your
user folder.

No this is not normal :)

You can tell if it is a junction by opening a command prompt, typing cd
"C:\program files\microsoft intellipoint", and then typing dir /a. If it is
a junction, it will look like this:

11/02/2006 06:00 AM <JUNCTION> <folder name> [<junction path>]

You should be able to delete the root of the junction and have it not delete
all of your files. Also, you shouldn't worry about disk space if this is the
case, because there is only one copy of the files on the disk. It will throw
off our caluclations of how big the folders are however, because we do walk
through junctions in counting the size of a directory.

Hope this helps,
Justin
