3rd party toolbar not showing up??

P

peter

I installed the netcraft toolbar but nothing shows up in IE, although in
"manage add-on" I see that netcraft is there and enabled.

I uninstalled netcraft and installed earthlink toolbar. Same story.

I have changed some of the settings and removed some buttons in IE6 before
installing these toolbars, but I don't remember everything I changed (mostly
security and privacy related). Does anyone know what setting can cause 3rd
party toolbar to not work?

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your post.

I understand the issue is that when installing the netcraft toolbar, it
cannot show up in Internet Explorer. If I have misunderstood your concern,
please feel free to let me know.

You have been enabled netcraft in Manage Add-ons in IE and uninstalled
netcraft /reinstalled another toolbar, the issue persists.

Based on your description and the steps you have performed, I suggest
trying to perform the following steps:

Note: I suggest that you disable the specific toolbar in Manage Add-ons in
IE and enable it at first.

Then to add or remove a toolbar in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

1. On the View menu, click Toolbars.

2. To add a toolbar, click to select the appropriate check box in the
Toolbar area, and then click OK. To remove a toolbar, click to clear the
appropriate check box in the Toolbar area, and then click OK.

The following toolbars and toolbar options are available in Internet
Explorer. These options are located in the Toolbar area when you click
Toolbars on the View menu.

- Standard Buttons: Contains the Back, Forward, Stop, Refresh, Home,
Search, Favorites, and Print buttons. This toolbar appears by default.

- Links: Contains links to commonly used Web sites, including the Microsoft
World Wide Web site and the Links, Services, and Tutorial pages on the The
Microsoft Network World Wide Web site. This toolbar appears by default.

- Address bar: Displays the Internet address of the current Web page. This
toolbar appears by default.

- Text Labels: Displays the name of the buttons in each toolbar. This
option is enabled by default.

If the issue persists, I hope that you can try to install Google toolbar to
check if the problem still exists.

Please try the steps above and let me know the result at your earliest
convenience. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free
to let me know.

Thanks & Regards

Turns out I disabled browser helper objects. When I try to install google
toolbar, it reminds me to turn it on. Now the netcraft toolbar works fine.
Thanks.
