3C90X + Windows 2000 SP4

F

Frederic Henry

After updating our main image server to SP4 on the weekend
(Windows 2000 Server) our 3Com (3c905) clients cannot
successfully image using the latest ndis drives from Dell
or 3Com. After connecting to the share, and running Ghost
(v7.5) it hangs part way through the imaging process.

This only affects our desktops running 3Com NIC's. Other
makes are not affected.

The server is running all the latest patches, the latest
drivers for the Intel Pro 1000 XF card. As stated, the
NDIS driver on the net boot disk is the latest one
published.

If anyone else is experiencing this problem, any insight
would be appreciated. Thanks.

May sound OT, but if it were me I would ditch the 3Com cards and replace
them with Intels. I
have had too many problems with them on W2k. I stick with Intel now. I have
given up on 3Com NICs....too many major malfunctions. Don't know of any SP4
specifics; I have had problems since the year dot with them and W2k, both
server and workstation.
