3343 - "Unrecognized database format 'databasename.mdb'

Dear Friend,

Our database using "Microsoft Access"97" and accidentaly I have opened the
database in "micrsoft access 2003"...Now, I couldn't open database both
"Access"97 and Access'2003" . I want open and use with 'access 97" format..!
If' i try to open I received below error message:

Nicht erkennbares Datenbanformat
"C:\Document~1\ramesh\desktop\TRADENET_bak.MDB".

3343 - "Unrecognized database format 'databasename.mdb'" or "This database
is in an unrecognized format. The database may have been created with a later
version of Microsoft Access than the one you are using. Upgrade your version
of Microsoft Access to the current one, then open this database."

Please help to me for resolve this issue..! our corrupted database have most
important data for our use..Please Help.

If you can open the database successfully with Access 2003, then try
converting it back to an A97 format file:
Tools | Database Utilities | Convert.

If that succeeds, it should make a new mdb file containing everything, and
you should be able to open that file with A97.

Your options:

If the database is to be used by both versions simultaneously on a network,
split the database, as described here:
http://allenbrowne.com/ser-01.html
You can give each user the version of the front end appropriate to them.

If the database is to be used alternately between the 2 versions, you can
open it (not convert) in A2003. You can enter/delete/modify the data only
using A2003. All maintenance of the database (altering forms, ...) must be
done in A97.

Thanks for your information..! I have tried add-ins for split database both
A97 and A2003..but i can't split. Even I can't see the add-in option in both
version...coz..it's hidden. Please guide me..what i should do??Tx

If you cannot use the built-in splitter, it is very easy to:
1. Create a new (blank) database.

2. Import just the tables. This is the new back end.

3. Create another new database.

4. Attach the tables from the new back end.

5. Import all the other objects (queries, forms, reports, ...) from the old
database. This is the new front end.
