If you have Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional then you have
a 32-bit product

Only Windows XP 64-bit Edition Version 2003 is 64-bit.

You can see the name of your product on Start ... Run ... winver

Almost certainly you have the 32-bit edition. Almost anybody who
has to ask the question is running the 32-bit version. The 64-bit
version requires special hardware. It and the hardware have come
down in price, but are still substantially more expensive than
the standard consumer PCs you see around. Very few home users are
using it.

But if you want to check to be sure, enter WINVER at the Start |
Run line.
