2007 uninstall - 2003 reinstall = safe mode proplem

i have uninstalled office 2007 because outlook was so slow and dominated
computer resources. i reinstalled office 2003, and replaced all updates. Now
outlook 2003 will only open in safe mode. application error events # are:
2000, 1000, 1001, 3102. I have done a program fix and reinstall but no help.
I am sure something is stuck in the registry from office 2007 - but I do
not know how to proceed and fix this problem - any ideas or sugestions are
appreciated.

NO

The installation just used the old data from the default location in my
profile.

Should i make a new profile?

if so, is there a way to backup account settings?

i have six email accounts from various ISP's.

account settings are not backed up in a .pst file - right?

Just make a new profile in control panel mail - call it Test if you wish.
Don't delete the old profile. Add one account - if pop3, be sure to set it
to leave on server, since this is just a test profile. See if outlook works
correctly.

No, more like since I can't repro it and the obvious things that should fix
this failed, the only option I can suggest at this time is a reformat -
which is not really an acceptable answer (except to computer tech support
:)).

With weird things like this, the solution usually comes from someone who has
the problem and figures out the cause on their own, then reports it here.

What brand computer is it? We know one cause of slowness in 2007 is an addin
installed by Dell/Cyberlink for Dell's Media Direct feature. It's possible
the uninstall/reinstall messed it up so Ol2003 is failing now too. If you
have a dell with Media Direct, disable the addin called Outlook Setup Addin
(Cyberlink). If Outlook won't load, you'll need to edit it in the registry.
Basic instructions are here:
http://www.outlook-tips.net/archives/2004/20040902.htm - just change the
addin name. :)

Also - have you tried Detect and Repair? Even though outlook is newly
installed, it can help if something isn't quite right. I'd probably go a
step farther and rename extend.dat, outcmd.dat, views.dat, and frmcache.dat.
I'd probably run fixmapi.exe too.

I also have the same problem. I just recently unistalled Outlook '07 and
reinstalled '03. I cannot open Outlook in anything other than safe mode...
I Do you think that when we uninstalled '07, we lost an important .dll file?
I have tried 'detect and repair'- but nothing happens.
