2007 backwards compatability

Whenever I open a ppt file made in an earlier version of powerpoint into
powerpoint 2007, all the text boxes get screwed up, the text is half shifted
upwards out of the box. This makes it extremely difficult to work with.

Also, if I try to cut and paste a picture from an old presentation into a
new .pptx file, the colours get screwed around. Red is coming out blue!

Compatibility mode seems to be anything but. Can someone help me with these
issues?

PowerPoint 2007 text editing slow, text cut off, print, crash problems
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00850.htm

That should take care of the text shifting and stuff. (Although you also
need to make sure you didn't use a font that's not available on the 2007
machine.)

As for the picture pasting, what kind of picture is it? It sounds as if you
may be pasting some drawn objects (although they may be grouped together),
and they had relative, i.e., color scheme, formatting applied. Those colors
will change when you apply a different color scheme, and the 2007 template
color scheme is probably different than the one used in 2003. See
http://www.echosvoice.com/colorschemes.htm for mor information about what
changes color when and why.

The text font is typically something like Times New Roman, so I don't see why
that should be a problem. It should be a standard font in Windows. However,
changing to the Microsoft XPS Document writer caused the text box problem to
go away. Why doesn't this affect things like Word and XL?
