Um, if your head aches, you do not cut off your foot! So when you have
a PC problem, you do not randomly delete critical system files. If you
think that deleting a file might help, /rename/ it - don't delete it -
then you can rename it back if you have to.

Restart your PC, open Access, try to create a new blank database, &
tell us exactly what the error message is: word for word.

I can create a new tablw with no messages....

the DB change your permissions....
I am the admin/ creator and can't get to security either !!!!!!!!

Regarding the Reunion_2005.mdb database:

(1) Has that database ever been secured with Access user-level
security?

(2) Have you ever been able to open that database on that PC?

(3) Can you think of anything you might have done, to cause the
problem? (apart from deleting the default workgroup file!)

Check the folder where the mdb is, and see if there is a file with a bak
extension. If so rename it to a mdb extension and see if you can open that.

Joan suggested to look for a .bak file. Did you do that?

There are other things that we could suggest. But you'd need to have
the patience to follow each suggestions carefully, & tell us what
happened.

TC, I tried that and get the same message as the original....
I have never been into the Access Security and now can't get into it
anyway....
I am a very patient man with a lot of computer experience fromPC's to Main
frames, but have no experience with MS access....
what do you suggest ???
THANKS FOR ANY HELP 1111

One thing you will have to do, if you want further help, is to answer
our questions :)

Joan suggested to look for a .bak file. Did you do that?

How many files with the file extension "mdw" are on your PC, and what
are their names?

Note: DO NOT give up & throw the files away. If we can't help you get
back in, there are data recovery services that will do it for you - at
a price, of course.

TC.....
This is my 3rd response to the .BAK question....
I found that and renamed to .mdb....
could not open that file either....
To the Ques. about .mdw....
I have 2 files SYSTEM.mdw and SYSTEMXXX.mdw this one I had renamed from
system.mdw earlier (DID NOT DELETE)
I think that I have responded to all the Ques. now,
Thanks for helping....

If SYSTEMXXX.mdw is the original workgroup file - ie. the one that
existed when you created the database initially - I'd try using the
Workgroup Administrator program or function to "re join" that workgroup
file. Then try again to open the database.

If that doesn't work, try creating a new database, then importing all
the objects from the old one. (But that is unlikely to work,
unfortunately.)

One more question: have you /ever/ had to log-on to /any/ database on
this PC? If so, who secured that database: you, or someone else?

Ive tried rejoining, that didn't work....
I tried again today , it didn't work....
I'm the only one ever on this computer and never set any security for
anything....
how or can I remove all security and start from scratch (MS Office Access
2003).....

AGAIN you do not explicitly say whether you tried what I suggested, and
AGAIN you do not answer the question I asked !!!

Sorry, that's enough for me. You'll have to get someone else to help.

I assume you did try /BOTH/ suggestions? (All you've said is, "it
doesn't work". PLEASE try to communicate more clearly on what you have
done. It's your job to be clear - not mine to keep guessing!)

If you have a backup copy of the database, try restoring that copy
(under a different name), and see if that opens.

- If it /does/, this suggests that there is something wrong with your
current copy of the database. Could you afford to discard the current
copy & go back to the backup one?

- If it /doesn't/, that suggests that it is something changed on the
PC as a whole.

Have you upgraded your version of Access, perhaps?

As a last resort, you may need to send your file to an Access data
recovery service. You should find several of those on the web. They
will certainly be able to open & copy your file, unless perhaps it is
corrupt.

HTH,
TC
