Alright, this question requires some explaining so here we
go. My friend bought a Windows Xp Home edition upgrade for
his computer but it doesn't upgrade windows 2000, just 98
and Millineum. We do have the install disks for windows 98
but when i try to install it when the computer boots up,
it doesn't read the cd during boot up and just bypasses. I
know that it wont install through windows after the system
has already booted up. What do i do? I need help pronto.

For info on installing see
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/howto/gettingstarted/guide/default.asp
Be aware that as you have win2k which is not an upgrade path the
installation will be a clean install.
ie *ALL* data files will be lost, on the install partition. So backup what
you need.!
To enable the boot from cd option you will have to enter the bios, often hit
DEL, during start up and alter the boot order to CD.
When the install asks for qualifying product, insert win98, in cd to
proceed.
